At about 7:50 on Monday morning we received a call that Banning PD needed help locating a missing person. The subject had last been seen on Friday and had contacted his fiancée on Sunday that he was lost and needed help.
I was the first RMRU member to arrive on scene and started gathering information on the search. Soon after I arrived, officers located the subject’s vehicle and identified tracks around it. Officers sent me an image of the track, the clearest I’ve ever seen on a search, and it matched the description the fiancée gave.
I sent Matt and Glenn into the field to start tracking, and they soon picked up the track heading south. In about fifteen minutes, the command post received word that an off-duty officer had located the subject about a mile south of his vehicle. Matt and Glenn drove to the location, quickly assessed the subject, and then headed back to the command post where we handed the subject off to the fire department and AMR.
