Around 8:30 pm on June 8, 2026, RMRU was called out to assist the Riverside Sheriff’s Office (RSO) in a missing person case in Hemet. Shortly after midnight the 60-year-old male with dementia and schizophrenia had been discharged unaccompanied from Hemet Hospital and had not been seen since that time. He had told the hospital that he wanted to return to the street rather than his living facility. RSO was notified and tasked RMRU with doing a vehicle search of Hemet and the surrounding areas where there was closed-circuit TV footage of the missing person. RMRU had 6 team members in three vehicles all searching different assigned areas. RMRU followed up on possible sightings along with talking to people in the area with no luck. The search concluded at 2:00 am on June 9 with no sightings or any more clues to his whereabouts. RMRU hopes that he is found soon.
