The Team was called out at 2:30pm for a missing 14-year-old last seen near Little Round Valley. He was part of a group of 6 who had spent the night in Little Round Valley. Three members left at 7am to hike back out to the cars at the Deer Springs Trailhead. At 8am the other three members left to also hike out.
The 14-year-old started hiking faster and was last seen by his father at 8:15am. When they all reached the cars the 14-year-old was not there, and they called 911. Based on RMRU’s experience in this area we guessed he went down Seven Pines or Marion Mountain trails. Sheriff’s Aviation RQ-9 started searching these trails and at 3:41pm spotted the youth on the Seven Pines trail around 7,000-foot level. They picked him up and flew him to the Mountain Station near Lake Hemet.
