At about 6pm we got a callout for a climber that had taken at least a 200ft fall on Tahquitz rock. Multiple team members began their drive up the mountain as Rescue 9 was in route. Rescue 9 was able to lower a medic to the subject and determine that the fall was unfortunately fatal. RMRU members continued up to Humber Park in case a carry out was needed, but Rescue 9 was able to extract the subject.
We don’t have a lot of details to what caused the accident, but it appears the climber was free soloing in the vicinity of the Trough. Our thoughts a condolences go out to the climber’s friends and family.
