At approximately 13:30, RMRU was requested to rescue a PCT (Pacific Crest Trail) Hiker. The subject was reported as having taken a fall and sustaining a lower leg injury. The location of the subject was approximately 3 miles away from Snowcreek Canyon Rd. The weather at the time of the call consisted of high winds, with dense cloud formations in the mountains and nearly clearly skies along the pass and I-10. Sustained wind speeds were approximately 25 mph.

RSO aviation attempted to hoist the subject out, but the conditions were deemed unsafe to hoist. RMRU members met up with CalFire personnel at the top of Falls Creek Rd. As RMRU members and CalFire were preparing to hike to the subject CalFire aviation successfully hoisted the subject out with their helicopter. Following the successful hoist, all RMRU and CalFire members were requested to stand down. The mission was completed at approximately 15:30.
