Riverside Sheriff’s Office (RSO) SERT called upon RMRU to assist in searching properties impacted by the Airport Fire in the El Cariso / Trabuco Canyon areas following the fire breaking out. We met with Deputies from RSO and Members of the Riverside County Search Dogs (RCSD) at a designated location off HWY 74 and Grand at 0700 hours.
RMRU members were assigned to four separate teams consisting of an RSO Deputy, RCSD and K9s, and RMRU members and provided designated coordinates to search these properties.
Mike Delannoy, our Mission Leader, led the mission briefing with a safety speech and set the expecta-tions for the search. An estimated 40 properties were identified and were searched during this mis-sion, and fortunately no victims found. Throughout the mission many hazards were located such as unstable structures, ruptured gas cylinders, downed power lines, and active burns still ongoing.
