RMRU was activated at 3am on February 21st to investigate a report of lights sighted near an abandoned mine near Cahuilla Mountain in Anza. Vinay and I reported to the Hemet-Ryan airport to fly in with RSO Aviation. After a short recon we spotted dim blue lights directly at the mine’s coordinates, but on closer inspection the pilot and TFO determined these to be Christmas lights, possibly set up by locals or a transient. With no sign of motion, heat, or habitation on Star 9’s instruments, we agreed that there was no emergency and returned to base.
