At 9:45 a.m. RMRU was called out to respond to Pine Cove to assist California Department of Forestry in the carry out of a subject who had broken his leg. Les Walker and I arrived within minutes and immediately went into the field with CDF personnel.

Our subject was a 62 year old male who had gone on a nice hike on a nice day and climbed up on a huge rock to take in the view and ended up falling off the back side. He fell 30 feet and broke his leg upon hitting the ground. After locating the subject, we assisted CDF in the loading of the subject into a litter and carrying him to a spot for a helicopter hoist. CDF helicopter 301 flew in and hoisted the subject out and took him to Keenwild heliport where the Idyllwild Fire Department transported him to a local hospital. We were all done by 11:00am.

RMRU team members present: Lee Arnson, Helene Lohr, and Les Walker.
