Overdue Day Hikers - Humber Park to Skyline Trail

We got the call at 11:40 a.m. Monday morning to search for four day hikers who had not returned home on Sunday night. Their car was still at Humber Park where they had started to hike. Before leaving on Sunday morning they told friends that they were hiking to San Jacinto Peak and then down the Skyline Trail. This potentially left the entire San Jacinto Mountains to search.

We planned to send multiple search teams into the field: starting up the Skyline Trail; riding the Tramway up to the top and starting down the Skyline Trail; and starting at Humber Park and hiking up.

Just as teams were getting ready to hike the four missing hikers came out into the town of Idyllwild. The mission was canceled at 2 p.m.
